Day 7 - Apopa and Cerro Verde

In the morning we visited a small school deep in the hills. The village was called Apopa and there I found a grasshopper.

After that, we went to Cerro Verde, a tourist spot high above the rest of El Salvador, with a volcano close by.

Cerro Verde was amazing... up there we saw a big group of young people dressed in camo gear, so we thought, "Hey, who better to reach out to than a big group of young people?" To our surprise, they were all members of a church's youth and young adult group. They were on a retreat and their motto was to be soldiers for Jesus (hence the camo gear). It was awesome - we had a joint worship service with them; we sang our praise songs to them and then we listened to theirs. We even played out one of our body worship skits and Redeemer. Afterwards, Pastor Daniel gave a message on wearing the armor of the Lord and the group gave him an honorary "Soldiers for Jesus" camo t-shirt.

There was a wide field were we sat on huge mats eating lunch; kim bop (seafood rice rolls) and potato salad sandwiches. Shortly thereafter we played a friendly soccer match. I love soccer; it's truly the only sport that you can play almost anywhere.

(Here are some random pics taken during the ride down the hill)

John wasn't expecting this picture, but by taking it candidly, I think I actually made him look smarter/contemplative. No need to applaud me, John... it's all in a day's work. =)
